her sister almeda

mabel's younger sister almeda was only 14 years older than mabel's oldest child. she was always very close to mabel and paul and their children. i can see a similar closeness between my nieces who are only ten and twelve years younger than me.

almeda married duke huston, much later in her life at the age of fifty-three, and had no children. she died of alzeihmer's disease in 1986 at the age of eighty-four.

almeda is my namesake (emily almeda paulos). from her pictures, her postcards and what i know from mom, almeda was a person who loved family, loved to travel and was extremely generous.
